ITS Standards Training Modules

The ITS PCB Program is pleased to offer FREE training on ITS standards! Learn how to evaluate, procure, and implement standards-based ITS devices and systems.

The ITS Professional Capacity Building Program (ITS PCB) is offering free online ITS standards training. The 18-module series is aimed at practitioners in state and local highway agencies and transit agencies who seek the skills needed to procure, implement, and operate ITS standards-based devices and equipment. Consultants, system designers and integrators, and system testers will also find the training informative and are welcome to view the modules. Modules are free and can be viewed anytime on the ITS PCB website!

Why Offer ITS Standards Training?

It is important that ITS deployers and other ITS practitioners understand the advantages of using standards in their ITS deployments. The consistent and widespread use of standards will enable public agencies and private organizations to share information across disparate networks, resulting in the improved coordination and delivery of transportation services on a regional basis, and, collectively, to a safer and more efficient national transportation network. Get Started!

The ITS Standards Training series consists of 18 distinct 90-minutes web modules. Concepts presented in the modules build from module to module. With the exception of Module 1, each module has prerequisites and references content in earlier modules.

Available modules are listed in the table below. Click on a module title, register, and then view the module. Descriptions are available for all the modules, even those currently under development – just click the module title to view the module description.

A one-time registration is required to view the modules. After you register once, just enter your email address to view additional modules or to return to an unfinished module. Whether starting a new module or returning to a half-completed one, simply click the module title to get started.
