T3 Webinar Software Requirement
To participate in a T3 Webinar, you must install Live Meeting 2005 on your PC. You only need to download and install Live Meeting once; you will not have to download it again to participate in future T3 Webinars.
You can check if you already have Live Meeting 2005 installed on your PC by selecting Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs on your desktop and then searching for Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2005:
- If Live Meeting 2005 is not in the program list, download it (go to "Recommend Download Option" below).
- If Live Meeting 2005 is in the program list but you have not attended a T3 webinar in the past six months, download the software again to ensure your computer is running the latest version of the software.
- If Live Meeting 2005 is in the program list and you regularly attend T3 Webinars, no further action is needed.
Recommended Download Option:
Participants with Windows-based computers should use the Windows-based Live Meeting Console because it offers features used in the T3 Webinar that are not available with the Web-based console (the "alternative option"). To download the Live Meeting Console, do the following:
- Go to this page: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=ba25749f-ca2f-451b-a20f-205896a79e60&DisplayLang=en
- Scroll down to the "Files in This Download" section.
- Select the File Name Setup_en_us.exe.
- Select "Run" and then "Run" again. Live Meeting will then install on your PC.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Live Meeting does not generate a "download complete" screen confirmation after installing on your PC. Live Meeting is activated only when you receive a URL that joins you to a webinar. The T3 coordinator will send webinar registrants a URL and instructions for joining the webinar prior to the webinar date.
You can check if Live Meeting 2005 was installed on your PC by selecting Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs on your desktop and then searching for Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2005 in the program list.
Alternative Download Option:
The Web-based Live Meeting console is an alternative for users who cannot install or run the Windows-based meeting console, usually because their computer runs an operating system that is not compatible with the Windows-based Live Meeting console, such as Windows 98, Sun Solaris, or the Apple Macintosh. The Web-based Live Meeting console is a Java-based program that runs on any of the Java virtual machines specified in the system requirements section earlier in this guide.
The Web-based console does not require installation of any files; it runs as a Java applet in the user's Web browser. However, hosting application sharing using the Web-based console does require application sharing files to be installed. To review the Web-based meeting console system requirements, see "Web-Based Console System Requirements" in the Deployment Guide.
For this option, download the file called: LMConsole_en_us.msi on this page: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=ba25749f-ca2f-451b-a20f-205896a79e60&DisplayLang=en under the section "Files in This Download."
The preceding download instructions were taken from the Live Meeting 2005 Document: Live Meeting 2005 Deployment Guide (p. 6) available at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=b46977d2-1d2c-40ea-8c83-793b85413859&DisplayLang=en
